MARK WILLIAMS

Founder of Business Decisions International (Pty) Ltd (IBDI).

Mark hails from Port Elizabeth and completed a B.Sc. in 1979 at the University of Port Elizabeth, majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics.

During his corporate life, he worked for S.A.T.S. (South African Transport Services), S.P.L., Barclays Industrial Bank, Edgars Group Information Systems, Deloitte & Touché Management Consultants and Sales House. In 1986, Mark completed his M.B.A. at Wits Business School.

In 1994, Mark founded a software & services business called Integrated Business Decisions International (Pty) Ltd (IBDI). As Managing Director, he was instrumental in taking the business to being the leading distributor for Arbor Software worldwide. In mid-1998, IBDI was acquired by Global Technology and was integrated into the Global Technology Business Intelligence division, where Mark held the position of Divisional Managing Director, responsibility for strategy, finance, corporate governance and strategic alliances, covering all business partnership activity.

Mark has been involved in various entrepreneurial ventures, covering business skills development, mentoring and coaching, and has done some major business consulting assignments for organizations across a number of industries, including Mustek, Tsogo Sun Group, BCX and Sanlam, as well as some public sector projects for Dept of Justice and Dept of Trade and Industry (dti). He also completed the Certificate Programme in Leadership Coaching at Wits Business School in 2009.

Together with Paul Whalley, Mark jointly established the Business Solutions Initiative (BSi) in 2012, a group of solution providers who provide comprehensive business solutions to support the growth and sustainability of businesses in South Africa through effective and sustainable skills development and transfer.

Mark is currently involved in executive coaching, business consulting and business skills development programs, focusing on financial and sales management, and continues to pursue his passion of providing experiential business development training to both entrepreneurs and corporates, as well as doing various interim management assignments.

Paul Whalley has over twenty years of corporate global leadership experience in addition to starting up and running a number of technology, engineering and professional services businesses.

He established Trysail Consulting, a Sales, Marketing, Leadership and Strategy consultancy, in 2006. Trysail has helped Business Leaders and Management Teams across a wide spectrum of industries achieve significant bottom line performance improvement in their organisations. Prior to starting Trysail Consulting he was Managing Director of the African subsidiary of a global IT company and grew it into one of the largest software application vendors in Southern Africa.

Paul jointly established the Business Solutions Initiative (BSi) in 2012, a group of solution providers who have joined together to provide comprehensive business solutions to support the growth and sustainability of businesses in South Africa through effective and sustainable skills development and transfer.

He has worked closely with businesses as diverse as MTN, Eskom, British Aerospace, NASA, IBM, PWC and Deloittes, as well as Technology and Government organisations in France, Canada, USA, UK and South Africa.

Paul is a Professional Engineer with a B.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering and an M.B.A. from Wits Business School, where he has also completed the Certificate Programme in Leadership Coaching.

He is a Founders Circle member and certified Leadership Coach, Speaker and Trainer with the John Maxwell Team, a member of Comensa, and a certified Associate of the Institute for Independent Business.

He was voted the Comensa Gauteng 2014 Business Coach of the year.
